Your health insurance company may require you to submit a prior authorization form for your medications. It gives your health insurance an opportunity to review that your treatment plan is medically necessary. Our PA team and providers usually initiate PA from your insurance company for you but it is your responsibility to verify with your insurance company what medications are covered under your plan. We encourage you to call your insurance before your appointment to confirm the list of covered medications.
Please also be reminded that prior authorization does not guarantee that your health insurance company will cover the cost of your medications. If your PA is denied, you may need to pay out of pocket or choose an alternative medications. Also note that, the prior authorization process may take 1-7 business days depending on your health insurance.
